Two Missouri men have been charged in connection with a tragic shooting that injured a 10-year-old boy earlier this month. The men face weapons crimes charges in relation to the incident.

One of the men, who is only 19 years old, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault for his alleged role in the shooting, and he faces two additional charges of armed criminal action. That man's bond has been set at $250,000 because of the severity of the alleged crimes.

The second man has also been charged in connection with the incident. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Circuit Attorney's Office in St. Louis. At the time of his arrest, he was held on $75,000 bail, which is likely a reflection of the less severe charges he faces as compared to the other man.

Police officers believe the men fired the shots toward a house where one of the men's ex-girlfriends lived. The men supposedly drove by the house in the early evening, and opened fire. The bullets struck a 10-year-old boy, the ex-girlfriend's brother, along with a 20-year-old male.

Both victims are currently in serious condition in the hospital. The boy was shot in the stomach and the older victim was shot in the arm. Investigators are not yet certain whether the second victim was related to the family or involved in the crime.

A third suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, but that person has not yet been charged. At this point, the police are still conducting their investigation, so they may have more details explaining this man's suspected role in the incident.

It is unclear how the police determined that the two men were connected with the incident. Officers have not reported that any specific eyewitness testimony factored into the arrests, and they have not released any information about physical evidence that links the men to the crimes. However, as the police investigation continues and more details are revealed, the two accused individuals will have a better idea how their defense team can challenge any evidence gathered against them.
